My Review:

(OK so technically the book went live early yesterday, but this is the official release day so that’s when I’m posting LOL) (Also, keep scrolling for a giveaway!)

What to say, what to say? Molly is the absolutely utterly incredible mentor I had the sheer luck to be paired with during Pitch Wars. I learned firsthand just how fantastic she is at turning a draft into the book it can be. TRACES is miles away from where it was when I entered the contest, and I don’t think I could have come this far with it without Molly’s spot-on feedback and constant encouragement.

With that in mind, I’m been sitting on my hands trying to be patient waiting for her book to come out. “Trying” being the key word, of course. I mean, seriously – a storm chaser romance. The little girl inside of me, who loved watching storms and slept better when it thundered than any other time, crashed headlong into squee with the grown up me, who was totally on board for Dash and Blake falling for each other.

Seriously, the romance in this was FANTASTIC – started out as a supportive friendship with mutual attraction, but enough respect not to push things until both parties were ready. Dash is definitely one of my new book boyfriends – the way he was with Blake just made me swoon and sigh with glee.

One thing I do want to mention (though the synopsis mentions it too) just in case anyone is triggered by it – Blake is in an abusive relationship for a large portion of this story. Molly portrayed it incredibly well, to the point that parts were far more familiar than I might have liked. One of the things I think is important about her portrayal is that she focused on the emotional abuse & manipulation. Often I find books with abusive relationships focus on physical battery, and while it’s definitely a valid portrayal, it makes it so much harder for someone to recognize when they’re in “just” an emotionally/verbally abusive relationship. That matters so, so much. I could probably do a full post just on abuse portrayal, but I’ll leave it at this: Molly’s portrayal was tough to read, but still had so much hope for Blake, and that meant so much to me.

On a lighter note, the descriptions of the storms Blake, Dash, and their team chased were incredible – really kept me in the scenes in the best way! Also, surprise faves of the book were definitely Hail the bulldog and Paul’s horrible meterology puns.

But yeah, I definitely recommend the hell out of this book, y’all. This is another where I got an ARC prior to the release, but I’ve already purchased another copy too. Because I needed it. ;)

In celebration of release week, Edge of Chaos will be on sale for .99 and will be offered on Amazon & KU. Trust me, guys – this book is fantastic!

Synopsis

Blake Caster has been in an emotionally abusive relationship with Justin for so long, she can’t tell what is normal anymore, and so she clings to the one thing that is solidly hers—her passion for extreme weather.

Three years into her Meteorology degree, Blake meets professional storm chaser, Dash Lexington, who is as gorgeous as he is daring. Instantly recognizing her passion and skills in analyzing weather data, he makes a spot for her on his tight-knit storm chasing team. Dash and Blake form a fast friendship and it forces her to realize just how toxic her relationship with Justin is. She can’t deny the lightning-worthy chemistry she has with Dash or how her heart stalls every time he gets too close to a tornado.

With each chase and the cherished moments with Dash, Blake discovers her own self-worth and gains the strength to end things with Justin for good. But he won’t go easily. As Blake tries to sever ties with one man, she fears she’ll lose the other to his dangerous obsession—and she doesn't know if she’ll be enough to save him from the impending storm that could end them all.
