On Blogging and Keeping Accountable

This is going to be my little corner of the blogosphere from now on where I chat about everything from my personal writing process & WIPs, to social media tips and tricks I’ve learned by accident, to book reviews and reccs, to who the hell knows what else. This is actually my second attempt at blogging. I had a BlogSpot account once upon a time, but utterly failed to do anything with it and don’t actually even remember where it was posted and/or what my log in was. Probably not the best start, huh? Oh well, that one will probably remain orphaned and alone out in the interwebs. This one will absolutely have more of my authorly attention, I swear. No really, my tech-savvy darling @augustclearwing who helped set up this lovely website and blog will kick my butt if I make all her work go to waste. With that in mind, my goal is to post at least once every two weeks. I’m going to aim for once a week, but due to life and the fact that Murphy hates me, I’m pretty sure every two weeks will be more likely. So, who am I to even bother creating a blog, you ask? Or well, I assume you’re hypothetically asking. This is just the first post after all LOL. Part of it is about building my voice here on the internet. If you’re part of the writerly crowd, you’ve undoubtedly heard the term ‘platform’ thrown around often enough to make you cringe. As an introvert, the idea of putting myself out there into the public eye is terrifying, but keeping it contained in my own little home, as it were, makes it a lot less intimidating. I’ve slowly been building up followers on Twitter and likes on Facebook, but neither site is really conducive to sitting down and getting to put out a complete thought if that makes sense. Hopefully, this blog will be my place to let the world see a little bit more of who I am and what I’m about. The other part is about accountability. I have a huge problem with procrastination. No really, give me a deadline and I’m good, but if left to my own devices, it can take weeks to get me moving forward on a project. Since I know I’ve got blogs “due” a minimum of every week to two weeks, this should help me get back in the habit of regular focused writing. We’ll see it works! Whew! I think that’s all I’ve got for you today. So what would you all like to see here, anyway? Book reviews, writing tips, general babble about my life with too many pounds of pets? Drop me a line/tweet/Facebook comment with comments/concerns/ideas for my next blog. Just let me know what you’d like to read and I’ll do my best to provide it!
