 about

Welcome to my little corner of the internet!

I am a 30-something writer currently living in the Austin area and happily keeping it weird.

I’ve been writing pretty much as long as I can remember, but it’s been a long road to admit to myself that I actually want to write professionally. It’ll be an even longer road getting to the point that I can write even part time and still pay bills, but I know deep down that it is what I want, hell need, to do. Luckily I married an amazing man who is onboard whole-heartedly with my writing, so it’s not quite as terrifying to contemplate moving from a day job to writing full time in the future. It may take a few years to get there, but it’s nice to know he thinks it’s an option!

I am a fan of the fantastical and far out there. Science fiction and fantasy have always littered my bookshelves, so it’s probably not a surprise that ended up being the genre I write in most often. I’ve dabbled in steampunk and post-apocalypse, some fairy tale retellings, some classical literature retellings, and there’s even a magical realism in the works, too. Mostly, everything I write will have at least a slight speculative/fanciful edge to it. That might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I just can’t resist writing out the wonder that comes to mind.

"I know nothing in the world that has as much power as a word. Sometimes I write one, and I look at it, until it begins to shine."

-Emily Dickinson

While my debut novel is pending publication with Falstaff Press, I am already published in several micropress anthologies, as well as our own Herding Cats Press's Clichés for a Cause charity anthology series which I and contribute to and co-edit. If you’d like to support and/or purchase any of the anthologies I’m already in – just drop by the “Books” tab up at the top of the page.

And finally, and also under the Herding Cats umbrella, I'm part of the #MimosaThurday writerly podcast. If you want to hear some slightly tipsy writers talk at length about writing, fandom, and who knows what else (we take road trips down tangents), this is definitely the podcast for you. ;)

That's all I have for now. If you have any questions for me - feel free to toss them at me on any of my social media pages. I swear I don't bite!
